Our Statement on #BlackLivesMatter

To the Latino-Greek Community:

This is a turbulent time in our nation's history and one in which we, as Chicana/Latina-based sorority, cannot stand idly by. Indeed, we must call out justice when we see it.

Phi Lambda Rho Sorority, Inc. stands in solidarity with our Black brothers and sisters who are suffering so much pain right now. Our hearts ache for the injustices Black people have continuously faced in this country due to systemic racism.

We will never regain the Black lives lost, but we will continue to fight for justice in their names. To do so, we must hold ourselves, our families, and our political systems accountable for the crimes committed against innocent Black Americans.

As we mourn and process all that is happening, may we work together to demand a better society that protects all its people.

In Solidarity,

Phi Lambda Rho Sorority, Inc.

To aid in the ongoing fight for racial justice in the United States, Phi Lambda Rho Sorority is helping raise funds for organizations working to create a safer and more welcoming world for Black people everywhere.

Phi Lambda Rho is pledging to match up to $5,000 in donations made during the month of June to three different organizations focused on elevating and supporting Black women and Black LGBTQI+ individuals.

The funds raised will benefit Color of Change, the Trans Justice Funding Project, and The Loveland Foundation

For every dollar raised in this campaign, Phi Lambda Rho will match donations (up to $5,000).

Every dollar donated will help fund:

>Racial justice efforts nationwide

>Therapy for Black women and young girls

>Trans justice groups run by and for trans people

Donations will be collected throughout the month of June 2020.

In order for donations to be matched, they must be made one of two ways:

Option 1: Donate via the FLR Philanthropy Fund on Venmo

(Search: @philambdarho-philanthropy)

At the conclusion of the campaign, any donations collected via Venmo will be evenly distributed between Color of Change, the Trans Justice Funding Project and The Loveland Foundation.

Option 2: Donate directly to any of the three participating organizations and share proof of your donation

Donations may also be made directly to either Color of Change, the Trans Justice Funding Project or The Loveland Foundation via their website.
